Tianna Marinucci

09/13/2022

Tianna is a data-driven and experimental marketer with a degree in Economics and English from McGill University (2021) and a certificate in Strategic Marketing from Cornell University (2021). In university, Tianna worked in marketing for various companies and agencies specializing in technology, interior design, and fashion. These roles sparked her love for marketing and growing businesses. This passion led her to Duoplane, where she is eager to expand marketing efforts and build out a comprehensive marketing strategy. She enjoys trying new foods, hiking, and travelling in her free time.

What do you do at Duoplane?

I work as a marketing manager at Duoplane. I am responsible for creating new, experimental campaigns, email marketing initiatives, social media content, writing and promoting blog articles, webinar execution and promotion, and developing new partnerships. Additionally, I am in charge of monitoring our SEO and SEM performance and creating strategies to improve key metrics pertaining to keywords, backlinks, search engine rankings, and more.

What do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time I love to travel, hike, ride horses, and watch hockey (Go Rangers!). When I’m not travelling around or at a hockey game, I love to explore the city and find new restaurants and cuisines to try out. I consider myself a big foodie and will try nearly any food around. Some of the standouts I have tried are bear, escargot, sea urchin, and elk.

Why are you excited to work at Duoplane?

I am excited to work at Duoplane for so many reasons. Firstly, I love the company culture. We are a small, tight-knit team that supports each other and works together seamlessly. Duoplane bases itself on values I share, including acceptance, trust, and community, which has made working here very fulfilling.

Additionally, I love being a part of a fast-growing start-up environment. I have worked at quite a few start-ups in the past and have found the experience to be incredibly rewarding. Seeing growth in different aspects of our business – from engineering to sales and marketing –  just in the past 6 months has been very motivating.

Lastly, I love the product. As someone who has worked alongside many entrepreneurs in the past, I can see how software like Duoplane is so helpful to e-commerce retailers and vendors alike. Like the software, the Duoplane team’s primary goal is to provide an affordable, well-built eCommerce solution that helps e-business owners.

What are some of your top skills?

Problem-solving: I pride myself on being able to find and create alternative solutions to problems. Whether that may be processes that are not working well or processes that are taking too long, I try to work smarter rather than harder to make operations as seamless as possible.

Communication: Anyone who knows me, knows that I love to talk. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to use this to my advantage by learning how to communicate not only effectively, but efficiently. Whether it comes to sending emails opposed to hosting a meeting or writing effective copy that leaves a lasting impression on your audience, I believe being a strong communicator is essential for success.

Creative: Ever since I was younger, I have been very interested in writing, drawing, and painting (among other arts at which I am far less skilled). Whether it comes to the actual act of creating or coming up with alternative ways to do things or communicate a message, I love being a part of building something unique.

Detailed-oriented: When it comes to day-to-day tasks, I have learned that “if you don’t have the time now, when will you?” This realization has helped me to maintain attention to detail in the moment in order to complete tasks more efficiently and avoid returning to tasks later on to make edits.

Adaptability: After working at a variety of startups, I’ve learned to assume many roles. As objectives can change quickly and startup environments typically move quickly, it is important to adapt to changing demand.

What is something that most people do not know about you?

Most people do not know that I am an avid traveller and hiker. I really enjoy taking on challenging new terrain in different spots all over the world. Some of my favourite hikes have been in the Dolomites in Italy and in the Rocky Mountains in Alberta.

What is something you are passionate about?

I am passionate about animal rehabilitation and sanctuary work. I have been to over 40 countries and have worked to help rehabilitate various animals from elephants in Thailand to snakes and lizards in the desert.

What is your proudest achievement?

My proudest achievement is the volunteer work and money I was able to raise for the Canadian Cancer Society. I have been volunteering with them since I was a child and being able to be one of their top fundraisers in my community was a very big honour.
